The Screen

The digital screen space could be considered as a paradoxical space, simultaneously flat and deep, and capable of holding on its surface a multi-layered world, expressive of both physical appearances and the abstract poetic depths of the imagination. Berndt deliberately reconfigures the moving image and thereby enters into a playful negotiation with the media apparatus. The ability to play and experiment with technology beyond its functional purpose, allows for a poeticising of the image space. The close relationship between the body and the computer screen during the video editing process has the potential to transform the screen into a fluid space of experimentation.
